If somebody wants to earn money, a sale needs to be generated somehow. Even if you chose to just place Adsense on your Blog, it will finally only work out if somebody buys something, usually a product or service. If that doesn’t happen, the advertiser will stop to buy ads and you won’t earn anything anymore. The same principle goes for every possible way to make money online. Once you understand that, it becomes clear that there are basically 3 positions that you can take.
1.) The product owner
2.) The affiliate
3.) The ad-seller
Usually there is somebody who has created a product or a service, for example an ebook or a software. In many cases there is an affiliate program that pays out 50% commission or similar. The affiliates basically use two ways to drive traffic to their affiliate links: They generate free traffic and they buy traffic. When they buy traffic, the ad-seller comes into play. Facebook, for example, is an ad-seller. So, if you want to make money online, you need to take one or more of these 3 positions. But which position is the best?
Creating and selling your own products
If you choose to take the first position, you need to create products or pay other people to create the products for you. It’s definately not the way to start out for newbies because it takes alot of time, work and experience to get started and even more to become successful. It’s not done by writing an ebook… you also need to create a strong salesletter and you need to setup or use a system to actually sell the ebook. A huge advantage of being the product owner is that you can setup an affiliate program and have affiliates who sell your products for you.
Selling products as an affiliate
If you are just starting out, then this is the way to go. You can simply promote other people’s products and get a commission for each sale. That way you only need to take care of the marketing part and not about product creation or customer support. Basically all you need to do is send traffic to your affiliate link to earn commissions.
If you run your own website or blog, you can sell ad-space either through a network like Google Adsense or on your own. While this is a very easy way to make money online, it isn’t the most profitable one. If you are able to chose affiliate products wisely, you are better off using your adspace for promoting products as an affiliate.
So these are the 3 positions that you can take when starting out with making money online… but wait… actually I forgot to mention one way that is even better than any of these 3 positions above: Using proven systems!
These are turn-key systems that you can use to get started instantly. It works kind of like with affiliate marketing, the one big difference is, that you are building your business and not the business of the product seller. See, when you promote products as an affiliate you get the commission when you make a sale… but what happens with that buyer? Well, the buyer will be placed on the product owner’s buyer list and he will receive emails with high-ticket offers (if the product owner is smart enough). Now, you as the affiliate won’t get any commissions from these follow-up offers… you basically give your customer away to the product owner. With proven systems it’s different, you get commissions on all offers and the customers stay yours.
A proven system has much more to offer than just that… so much, that I’ll surely write an article soon about the topic of proven systems. If you want to check out the two proven systems that I use, have a look at the links below.
